Dataset Attribute Table View

Consult the attribute values of all objects of the dataset.

Navigate to the Attribute Table by using the Dataset Context Menu.

Attribute Table

Each Attribute Set has it's own Attribute Table. To see the Attribute Table, first select the model, then select the AttributeSet.
More information about modelling datasets, see Dataset Structure Contents

Orbit GIS will list all rows from this Attribute Table. If the amount of rows exceeds 2000, a popup will give a warning. Listing more rows may require time depending on the size and location of your dataset.

Each Spatial Object is represented by it's internal ID and is listed in the leftmost column (SIO ID). This indicates the link between the table row and the Spatial Object.
Note: Each record in the table refers to one attribute valuellist. For objects with more valuelists, in the attribute table the object consist of more records with the same SIO ID.

Managing the Attribute Table

The attributes of the table are presented as column headers. The attribute values are the records.

Manage the Attribute Table :

  • Sort by clicking on a column header to sort the table to this column.
  • Change the width by click-drag a column separator in the column header
  • Move columns around by click-drag a column header left or right.

Selecting row data

Select one or more rows by click or click-drag. Use 'Control' to add/remove individual rows to your selection or 'Shift' to add/remove ranges.

Use the buttons at the bottom left side of the window :

Deselect all rows.
Select all rows.
Reverse selection: All selected rows will be deselected and all deselected become selected.
Export the selected list to a text-file or dbf-file.
Group selection on top : moves all selected objects to top of list for fast viewing and browsing.

Select objects by using the attribute table:

With the Link with Map option on, the presentation of selected objects is visible in 3 ways : graphically in the map view, as highlighted attribute rows in this window, and as a list in the Object Inspector. All three views are tied to each other. When altering the selection in either of them, the other views are updated.

Attribute Statistics

Consult statistics for each individual attribute.

Select the attribute:

  1. Choose the model in which the attribute is situated.
  2. Choose the attribute.

Field Description
Min The minimum value of all the objects.
Max The maximum value of all the objects.
Average The average value of all the objects.
Count The amount of objects that have a value for this attribute.
Sum The sum of all the values.
Standard Deviation The standard deviation for all the values.

The statistics are interesting for attributes with numerical values. For textual values the average, sum an standard deviation are impossible.
