How Orbit Licenses work

Each Orbit product requires a license to operate. Unlicensed copies are illegal, except within their trial period of 30 days.

Licenses can be obtained by purchasing a product and after installation, supplying your installation key to us. Upon receipt of payment we forward a license bound to your key.

How to proceed ?

1. Buy a product. Download, install and run it.

Upon first run, you need to have administration permissions on your local machine in order to allow the orbit product to generate a key. If a key cannot be generated, your license will be bound to your machine by the network adaptor identifier.

2. Go to the License Editor and forward your installation bind key.

In Orbit GIS, open the License Editor from the Help menu.
For EOS and FlexMap, use the EOS Console and open the License Editor from the System panel.

Each copy is bound to a key. There are 3 possible bind keys :
- Registry Key : this is the default key and each copy has a unique key. You do require administrator permissions to allow Orbit to create the key.
- Network Hardware : bind your license to your network adaptor idenifier
- License Server : purchase an Orbit License Server and manage your orbit licenses in a shared environment.

Note : the License Server is a component in the Orbit EOS server.  This server is either bound to a Registry Key or the Network Hardware.

3. Choose a key, and forward a License request to sales [at] orbitgis dot com.

Include your payment identification with this request. We return a license linked to the forwarded key. Copy and paste that license into the license field in the License Editor, and Validate the license. Done.
For your convenience, your license is registered in our online database.
